For residential surveyors, the RICS HSS confirms ‘all level three services will require a broader and deeper technical knowledge’ and equivalent knowledge is also required on older, complex, historic and neglected properties for a level 2 service. Members ‘must decline the instruction if the subject property type is beyond their knowledge and skill level’.
This new to the market session, combines virtual learning with an on-site practical workshop, forming 3 (or 4 if desired) modules:
Pre-course briefing, preparation, desktop research – 4 hrs virtual session (Session 1)
On-site workshop (subject property and training venue near Chipping Sodbury, Bristol) – full day (Session 2)
Reflection and report preparation – 4 hrs virtual session (Session 3)
If requested by you, later assessment to confirm you’re getting it right in practice (additional fee will apply)
Content:
Pre-course learning, identifying the necessary technical knowledge, desktop studies, inspecting to a broader and deeper level, collecting the evidence in a consistent manner, reflecting on the information, deciding on the correct condition rating, consistent reporting to the required level and assessment of your learning outcomes.
Objectives:
Introduce you to some fundamental technical information you require for all level 3 reports (and many level 2 reports);
Help you identify your technical knowledge areas that require up-grading;
Assess your current levels of competence to carry out and prepare level 2 & 3 surveys.
