Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) are a niche but rapidly growing market as we see returns in the sector outstrip single buy to lets. But it is also a heavily regulated sector. Therefore, surveyors must be aware of the licensing framework and additional standards required in HMO before confidently practicing in this area. This session will also discuss the implications of getting the valuation wrong and the approach to valuation.
The E-classroom course is interactive with workshop style exercises and scenarios to encourage participation.

Overview of the definition of HMO
The Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and what a category 1 hazard looks like
The likely impact of the Fitness Act and Awaab’s law

Fire safety in HMO

Scenario based exercises giving learners the opportunity to deep dive amenity standards
