When surveyors report on necessary repairs arising from defects, accurate indications of likely works help a customer’s buying process so your customer’s contractors can accurately price the repairs. Many customers additionally find an assessment of likely costs helpful; surveyors offering such a service can charge an additional fee. This course will help develop these competencies, including case studies to work through together.
Content:
Defects, ‘visualising’ construction form, risks to the property, repair methods, condition rating, reporting necessary repairs, repair costs, legal issues, the final report.
Objectives:
Introduce delegates to the concept of visualising construction forms, thereby enhancing defect diagnosis;
Demonstrate how this information can be used in practice to identify appropriate repair methods for different parts of a property; and
Practice, by using case studies and discussion by group work, how to provide satisfactory reports to clients.
